Today I’m going to share with you 2 things holding you back from your true speed.

 

You might think I’m going to say something about fixing your foot strike or developing more power but this is bigger than that.

 

In order to truly unlock freak levels of speed, you need to master both of these 2 things I’m about to discuss.

 

Unfortunately, many athletes focus on one and completely ignore the other. Then, they wonder why they aren’t seeing the results they deserve.

 

You Need To Improve Your Bullets And Improve Your Aim.

Specifically, when I say bullets I’m talking about what your body is capable of such as:

 

  1. strength speed
  2. speed strength,
  3. reactivity,
  4. cardiovascular endurance,
  5. lactic acid threshold
  6. rate of force development

 

And more.

 

Specifically, when I say aim I’m talking about how your body applies those capabilities:

 

  1. posture
  2. leg recovery
  3. foot strike
  4. rhythm
  5. timing
  6. transition

 

And more.

The bullets are what your body is capable of.

 

The aim is how you apply those capabilities.

 

You need to maximize both to have freak-level speed.

 

Imagine if you wanted to be a world-class sniper.

 

You can have the best aim in the world but if you’re using a water gun you won't hurt a fly.

 

You can have the best bullets in the world but if you have terrible aim you won’t even touch your target.

 

The point is this, the athletes performing at the highest level maximize their athletic capabilities and apply them masterfully.

 

You need to have the power, endurance, reactivity, etc.

 

Then you need to have proper technique to apply those things.

 

It’s not a question of either or. You can’t have one without the other if you’re serious about being a 1% athlete.

 

How to Increase Your Athletic Capabilities

There’s a lot to fit inside this email so to make it concise I’m going to give 1 method for each one.

 

  1. strength speed: heavy sleds with about 60% of your body weight.
  2. speed strength: light sleds for 40-60m.
  3. reactivity: pogo jumps
  4. cardiovascular endurance: intensive tempo runs
  5. lactic acid threshold: 300m tempo runs.
  6. rate of force development: box jumps.

 

How to Improve Your Technique

  1. posture: A-steps with your hands up in the air
  2. leg recovery & foot strike: wicket drills
  3. rhythm & timing: tempo runs
  4. transition: the 3 tape drill

 

If you understand and correctly apply this concept of maximizing capabilities + technique you’ll be way ahead of the rest it's not even funny.
